Referred as the cultural capital of South Karnataka, Mysore is well known for the festivities that take place during the 10 day Dasara festival. The Amba Vilas Palace or Mysore Palace, the centre of the Dasara festivities, is a major tourists’ attraction of the city.  The adjoining Brindavan Gardens, where a musical fountain show is held every evening, the wildlife sanctuaries and the bird sanctuaries surrounding the city need no mention as wildlife enthusiasts flock in large number. Overall, Mysore city is one of the best tourist’s destinations in the South part of the country.  On November 1, 2014 Mysore was official renamed as Mysuru.

Apart from being a tourist destination, the city of Mysuru is traditionally home to industries such as weaving, sandalwood carving and bronze work. Alongside the traditional industries, Mysuru has emerged as the second best destination for information technology in the state of Karnataka after Bangalore. The city hosts couple of big IT wings and often working professionals keep moving in and out of the city for weekend.  Students who get placed from reputed institutions to big companies lead to Mysuru for training but with very limited public transport system from other cities one will find difficult to reach Mysuru. CoYatri connects travelers with car-owners travelling alone. This helps them to share a ride as well as travel expenses.
